Overview & Highlights

Welcome to The Terrace Bar and Café, a delightful culinary gem nestled within the historic His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen. This welcoming eatery effortlessly fuses vibrant atmosphere with exquisite food and drink options, making it a must-visit spot for locals and visitors alike.

As you step inside, you are greeted by charming decor complemented by stunning views overlooking the Union Terrace Gardens. The ambiance is perfect for a pre-show meal or a leisurely afternoon coffee. You can savor a range of delicious choices, from their tempting loaded fries, available in four savory styles including Salsa, Katsu, Pesto & Parmesan, and Halloumi, to the delightful and creamy Mackies Of Scotland Ice Cream.

Guest reviews speak volumes about the high-quality service at The Terrace. One visitor, Andrew Geddes, remarked on the first-class food and the attentiveness of the staff. Their selection of local draught beers and creatively crafted cocktails enhances the communal dining experience, making it a place to unwind and connect with friends. The friendly atmosphere, highlighted in multiple reviews, invites you to linger a little longer.

Notably, the café excels in accommodating various dietary preferences, including a commendable range of vegan options. Customer LF emphasized the excellent service paired with quickly served, delicious meals—a combination that encourages diners to return. Whether you're popping in for a casual cup of coffee or planning a pre-theatre feast, The Terrace Bar and Café promises something for everyone.

However, if you're planning your visit around showtimes, be sure to be aware of crowded intervals when the buzz of eager theatre-goers can raise the noise level momentarily. Despite this, the overall experience at The Terrace is highly rated, with many expressing fervent intentions to revisit.

In summary, The Terrace Bar and Café is more than just a dining spot; it embodies a community atmosphere, speckled with touches of elegance and warmth. As one satisfied guest put it, it's a place not just for meals but for memories. Join in on the experience, and you may just find it becomes your new favorite dining destination.

Very nice interior and atmosphere. Couldn't taste any food as their kitchen was closed for some reason. Good coffee and nice service

Booked a pre show meal Arrived a little early and was seated straight away Beautiful decor and view out onto union terrace gardens Food was first class and arrived promptly Quite a varied menu and something for everyone and very reasonably priced Alot of different draught local beers and an array of cocktails Every member of staff was so friendly and attentive Now for the only downside Beware of attending when there's a show on at the same time as when the interval happens then the bar gets crowded and the noise level increases But only lasts for about 20 mins Would definitely come back especially for a meal before a show Excellent

Very impressed with this place. Lovely surroundings looking over union terrace gardens. Perfect service, friendly atmosphere, and warm welcome. The vegan options are great! Plenty of choice for all courses. Food was served quickly and was delicious. We were here before attending a show in the theatre below, but I will definitely be back sooner than my next theatre trip! Ps the cocktails are lovely with a good choice of non alcoholic options. Highly recommended!

Went during restaurant week and the menu was surprisingly good. Portion sizes were great and food quality was as good as the reviews all seem to say. Restraunt was packed pre theatre but emptied very quickly around 7.30pm. Service was pretty quick if a little quirky. Would definitely recommend.

On a Saturday afternoon, a quiet place for a cuppa with charming decor and a great view of the William Wallace Statue. Totally recommend the tea and biscoff slice.

Food was good and came Out quickly. I had the sea bass and shared a bottle of Tempranillo. Wine was good value, fish was a little cold for my liking but it didn’t detract from the meal. Fished with the cheese cake which was good. Happily come back

Just been for a meal at The Terrace, the service was quick, we ordered a few starters, the monkfish was sensational and I had the breaded fish for mains and it was done to perfection and the chunky chips were soooo good, cant wait to go back, service was lovely, attentive and friendly too.
